This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to operate a forklift truck safely.

Forklift truck means a powered industrial truck equipped with lifting media made up of a mast and an elevating load carriage to which is attached a pair of fork arms or other arms that can be raised 900 mm or more above the ground, but does not include a pedestrian-operated truck or a pallet truck.

A person performing this work is required to hold a forklift truck high risk work (HRW) licence.

This unit requires a person operating a forklift truck to plan the work, conduct routine checks on a forklift truck, shift loads in a safe manner, and safely shut down and secure equipment after completing operations

Participants must provide evidence of identity (EOI) equal to 100 points on day 1 of training and on the assessment day ( day 3). EOI includes either a passport or birth certificate plus a photo I.D document e.g. driver’s licence. All evidence of identity must be originals not copies. WRCC can provide you with this information on enrolment.

Upon enrolment, you will be contacted by WRCC to complete a student declaration:
This Statutory Declaration is required by you to confirm your language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) ability is at a sufficient level to ensure students are able to undertake SafeWork NSW and other approved assessments. The forklift course does have specific Language, Literacy and Numeracy requirements that need to met in order for the participant to proceed with the forklift course.
In instances where a Students LLN is underdeveloped, you may not successfully pass the required assessments. By completing this declaration it’s your opportunity to let the college know if you have concerns surrounding your LLN capabilities. In instances where a student identifies underdeveloped LLN skills, the prospective student will be given the opportunity to be provided with LLN support free of charge.
Support provided by the College aims to assist with the students LLN development prior to attendance at a course. Such assistance is facilitated by the college to improve your LLN skills with an intention to successfully complete the course. However, while assistance is provided to improve individuals English LLN skills. Such interventions are not intended to teach an individual English. In circumstances where an individual has minimal English LLN. The College will refer to alternate pathways to enable English LLN skills development.
In situations where a prospective Student states within their declaration that they have English LLN barriers, the College will make an appointment for you with the WRCC Student Support Officer (SSO). The SSO will work with you to improve your skills before the course takes place.
However, If you have English language, literacy and or numeracy issues and fail to disclose them, you may not satisfactorily complete the training, resulting in loss of fees paid. WRCC cannot be held responsible for a persons inability to successfully complete a course. Particularly in circumstances where the student fails to disclose pertinent information in their application for enrolment.
